- Texas LULAC Elderly Conference
October 24-25, 2008
Dove Spring Center (8501 Ainez Drive Austin, TX 78744)
Texas LULAC Elderly Conference
This event is the first ever LULAC State Conference for the Elderly. The Texas LULAC Deputy State Director for the Elderly, Mrs. Julia B. Villaronga, representing Texas State LULAC is working with LULAC Districts 7 and 12 in putting the Conference together. The National VP for the Elderly, Mr. Richard Fimbres is assisting by seeking out National Sponsors. Invited to the Conference are Ms Rosa Rosales, National LULAC President, Mr. Joey Cardenas III, Texas LULAC Director, Mayor Will Wynn, local dignitaries, and the entire Texas LULAC State Board. A significant player in this event will be the members of the University of Texas Longhorn Council, a Young Adult Council who joins the LULAC Elderly in a vital partnership, absorbing the wisdom of the Elderly, while enthusiastically pursuing the LULAC Goals for our Community. They plan events in Austin on Friday and Saturday for the State Young Adults who attend this Conference. More information will be forthcoming. Our invited Guest Speaker for the opening ceremony is Ms Rosa Rosales, LULAC National President, a vibrant and energetic person, with a passion for helping all those who need assistance, and will, among many other themes, discuss the Get Out The Vote effort for the city’s Elderly. The event is free to the Public, and the Elderly attending the Conference will be provided lunch on Friday at no cost.
The Conference is a two day event, with the first day featuring a Health Fair for the Elderly, and the second day a Conference by Service Providers to the Elderly, to address pressing issues for the Elderly, and explore possible solutions. A featured discussion is a presentation by the Texas University Longhorn Council on how Young Adults can team up with the Texas Elderly and assist in addressing and perhaps resolving these issues. There are opportunities for Major Sponsors, with Gold Sponsors providing at least $5,0o0; Silver Sponsors providing at least $3,500; and Bronze Sponsors providing at least $2,500. Service Providers can be exhibitors during the Conference for a mere $200, which will secure them a place with a table for their displays and products with two chairs. We will publish a Program Booklet in color with the schedule of events, and a listing of Major Sponsors. Advertisement can be bought for the Program, ranging in price from $400 for a full page color ad to $100 for a quarter of a page ad in full color. As the Texas LULAC Deputy Director for the Elderly, I gladly welcomes vendors, sponsors, and advertisers, as all of you are needed to make this Conference a success. For more information, contact Julia Villaronga at 1-800-KILLEEN or by email at jvillaronga@clearwire.net.
